Our approach to Mathematics

With "story" as central to education, we choose rich literature, coupled with era-specific history, as the foundation to discussion, writing, and ultimately, learning about the "image bearers" of the living God. 

Students are placed in their skill level rather than just their age and grade level.  Too often math skills are missed as students are forced to compromise pace for mastery.  At Bethel Academy, we focus on mastery for each student before they progress in their math ability.  Click the image above for a short video to understand our math approach.  

Instilling wonder in God's creation is central to our science program.  While we seek to equip students with scientific skills, we focus on observation of the order and beauty in God's world. 

Why Latin?  Following English grammar, Latin reinforces the skill of structure while also giving students a deeper understanding of language in general. Latin is well ordered, laying a beautiful foundation for thinking skills. 

Music is integral to Christian education because God calls us to worship together in "Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs."  Music is vital to a classical education as it is yet, another opportunity to gain fluency in an ordered language.  

Art makes an historical statement on culture. Art is rhetoric and it reveals the worldview of the artist, much like creation reflects our Creator.  We get a window into the past with art history, and skills in "communication" with artistic skills.
